4th CTY Cup International Guppy & Plecostomus Contest in conjunction with 2nd Guppy Asia Cup (YEAR 2024)

4th CTY Cup International Guppy & Plecostomus Contest in conjunction with 2nd Guppy Asia Cup was organized on 21st to 23rd June 2024 (Friday to Sunday) which held at 1st Floor Auditorium, Chew Thean Yeang Aquatic and Pet, Burma Road Main Shop.

 

Guppy Asia Cup is one of the most prestigious guppy competition in the Asian Country. With the experience of organizing 23rd World Guppy Contest on last year and successfully being recognized with the title of "Largest International Guppy Competition" by the Malaysia Book of Records, this year, we will add on one more fish contest, which is Plecostomus Contest. 

 

This contest aimed to act as a platform for all Guppy and Plecostomus lovers to gather and share their experience. In this event, we hope to exchange new strain of Guppy & Plecostomus from other countries and create awareness for Guppy & Plecostomus as an export ornamental fish. In addition, we would like to educate the public the correct way of keeping pure strain fish and promote it as a hobby in the region. Fish hobbyist will also have chances to learn more about different strain of Guppy and Plecostomus.

 

Guppy Asia Cup is the first time organized at Penang, Malaysia, thus we would like to promote Penang tourist attraction and famous food for all visitors include foreign visitors, while indirectly promote Penang Economy.

 

In order to promote this grand event, we had capture group photo of all the MCGG committee on 10.00am, 15 June 2024 (Saturday) and send the press release to the reporters.

 

For Guppy Contest, there are 9 certified guppy judges and 3 apprentice guppy judges from international country will be attended to this event, such as: Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan R.O.C., Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia. For Plecostomus Contest, there are 5 certified judges from international country will be attended to this event, such as: China, Taiwan R.O.C, Indonesia and Malaysia.

 

There are total 448 Guppy tanks and 68 Plecostomus Tanks.

There will be total 18 guppy categories for this competition and Prizes can be divided into:

a)      Grand Champion

b)      Sub Adult Grand Champion

c)       54 prizes for trophy Champion, 1st Runner Up & 2nd Runner Up of 18 categories

 

There will be total 4 Plecostomus categories for this competition and Prizes can be divided into:

a)      12 prizes for trophy Champion, 1st Runner Up & 2nd Runner Up of 4 categories

 

In order to encourage more participants to join in this contest, no entry fee incurred & fish couldn’t be reclaimed back and there are an auction section after Prize Awarding Ceremony.

 

Mr. Yuan Chi Guang who come from China was become the winner of “Grand Champion” in which his guppy fish is under Class 3- Half Black Delta category. Sub Adult Grand Champion is Ku Boi VBG who come from Vietnam.

In this event, it’s been our honoured to get sponsorship from YAB Chow Kon Yeow, Jabatan Perikanan Malaysia & Tetra Germany. During this contest, Tetra had support with RM5 Cash Voucher when customer purchase 2 bottles of new range Tetra Bits Food.

 

In conclusion, this event was run smoothly and get a positive feedback from judges. We will continue improve and doing well on next year.
