5th CTY Cup International Guppy and Plecostomus Contest in conjunction with 2nd Pleco Asia Cup and IKGH International Guppy Championship was organized on 23rd to 25th May 2025 (Friday to Sunday) which held at 1st Floor Auditorium, Chew Thean Yeang Aquarium Sdn. Bhd., Burma Road Headquarter.

 

The Pleco Asia Cup is a specialized competition dedicated to showcasing the beauty and quality of plecostomus species across Asia. After its successful debut in China in 2024, the event returns for its second edition, bringing together top plecostomus breeders from across the region.

 

We, Chew Thean Yeang Aquarium Sdn. Bhd. represent Malaysia to enter the applications of the Pleco Asia Cup. It’s been our honoured to recognize by the Asia Pleco Association (APA) as the host of 2nd Pleco Asia Cup at Penang. Worth to mention that, this is the first Pleco Asia Cup held in Malaysia.

 

In addition, the IKGH International Guppy Championship will be a key highlight of this year's competition. IKGH plays a crucial role in promoting selective guppy breeding, ensuring that fish meet strict standards in terms of colour, fin shape, body structure, and genetic purity. As one of the most prestigious guppy competitions, this championship sanctioned by IKGH, will bring together top breeders from around the world to showcase their finest guppy pairs.

On 23/5/2025, judging section had been started. After several rounds of voting, Mr. Mike Acopiado from Philippines declared the “Grand Champion” with his guppy fish under Class 1- Solid Colour Delta category. The Sub Adult Grand Champion title was awarded to Yi-JUI, Chen from Taiwan R.O.C. with his guppy fish under Class 16- Solid & Albino Solid Sub Adult. Meanwhile in IKGH International Guppy Championship, the Best of Show title went to WP Tung from Malaysia.

 

On 24/5/2025, opening ceremony began at 10.30am at 1st Floor Auditorium, Burma Road Headquarter. During the Opening Ceremony, some VIP had been invited, such as:

Next, we were having a Handover Ceremony of 2nd to 3rd Pleco Asia Cup, which will be held at Indonesia on next year. We had invited some of the VIP, such as: Manager of Chew Thean Yeang Aquarium Sdn. Bhd. Cum MCGG and MCPG Show Manager, Ms Tan Hui See, Rajanta Sinardja Rajardja from Indonesia Pleco Community and CEO of Chew Thean Yeang Aquarium Sdn. Bhd. cum MCGG and MCPG Advisor, Mr. Ronnie Chew.

 

On afternoon, Prize Awarding Ceremony had been organized. All winners had been presented with a trophy one by one. After Prize Awarding Ceremony, Pleco Seminar Talk was presented by China Judge – Mr. Xu Huan Ran. He was sharing his experience for breeding and caring of Plecostomus to the public.

 

There were total 504 tanks of Guppies and 58 tanks of Plecostomus. This year's competition successfully attracted participation of Guppy and Plecostomus enthusiasts from more than 10 countries and regions including Malaysia, China, Taiwan R.O.C, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, and Indonesia.
