23rd World Guppy Contest in conjunction with 3rd CTY Cup International Guppy Contest was organized on 27th to 30th July 2023 (Friday to Sunday) which held at 1st Floor Auditorium, Chew Thean Yeang Aquatic and Pet, Burma Road Main Shop. 

World Guppy Contest is the highest honor and one of the most important event for guppy lovers all over the world. It’s been our honored to represent Malaysia to enter the applications of the World Guppy Contest and recognize by the World Guppy Association (WGA) as the host of 23rd World Guppy Contest at Penang, Malaysia. 

This contest aimed to act as a platform for guppy lovers from all over the world come to gather and share their experience. In this event, we hope to exchange new strain of guppy from other countries and create awareness for guppy as an export ornamental fish. In addition, we would like to educate the public the correct way of keeping pure strain guppy and promote it as a hobby in the region. 

In this grand competition, 9 judges had been invited which come from United States of America, Brazil, England, Germany, France, China, Taiwan ROC and Malaysia.

The guppy fish that participated in the competition had been increased to 784 tanks compared to year 2022 which had break the record of World Guppy Contest. Besides, there are 28 categories for this contest.

Mr. AnShin Lu who come from Taiwan R.O.C was become the winner of “World Champion” in which his guppy fish is under “Ribbon (3 Fishes)” category. Asia Champion is Martin Jusher Vicada who come from Philippines. North/South America Champion is Frank Chang who come from United States of America. And Europe Champion is Milde Mickael who come from Austria.

Handover Ceremony of 23rd to 24th World Guppy Contest had been organizing after Prize Awarding Ceremony in which Current President of World Guppy Association (Frank Chang), Next President of World Guppy Association (Wind Wang), MCGG Advisor / Show Advisor Malaysia CTY Guppy Group (MCGG), Ronnie Chew and Show Manager (Ms Tan) had been invited. 

In addition, Prize Awarding Ceremony for Asia Guppy League 2022 had been organizing too.

This event was run smoothly and it's been our pleasure to get support from Jabatan Perikanan Pulau Pinang, Jabatan Perkhidmatan Kuarantin dan Pemeriksaan Malaysia (MAQIS) Negeri Pulau Pinang, Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy, Tetra, BrandNew Banner Shop, all of the Judges, Reporters and etc.
